Made for everyone.
BENIBIX aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page and in every tool. Here is what that means in practice, and where it is not there yet.
What the site does
- Keyboard first. Every link, button, menu and popup works with the keyboard, and focus is always visible. The command bar opens with
Ctrl K(⌘Kon a Mac) or/. - Screen readers. Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels. Icons that carry meaning have a text label; decorative art is hidden from assistive technology.
- Contrast in both themes. Text colours, including each category's colour, are checked to reach at least 4.5 to 1 against their background, in light and in dark.
- Reduced motion. If your system asks for less motion, animations stop and the page stays still.
- Zoom and small screens. Pages reflow down to a phone's width and up to 200% zoom without losing content.
- No time limits. Nothing on the site expires while you read or work.
What does not work well yet
- Drag and drop in the tools (reordering segments or blocks) always has a keyboard alternative, but it is less direct than the mouse.
- Pictures of a tool's output (a status line, a README card) are described in words next to them, not read out element by element.
- In Chart Compass, a chart drawn with your data is read out by its name only; the reason it fits and which column goes where are in words next to it, and the numbers are the ones in your own table.
- In KPI Atlas, each chart drawing is an example with sample numbers and is read out by its name only (“Line chart of Win Rate, with sample numbers”); the reason it fits and its Power BI visual are in words beside it.
- In Prompt Gallery, most example images are named only by their prompt's title; the prompt next to each one, which you can read and copy, says what the picture shows.
- In Statusline Studio, the live preview is read out as the plain text the line prints, separators and icons included, and is used with the mouse; with the keyboard, edit the same segments in the Layout list below it, where a focused segment moves with the arrow keys, opens with Enter and goes with Delete.
- In Usage Insights for Claude Code, the column charts, line charts and the weekday by hour heatmap give each exact figure when you point at it; with a keyboard or a screen reader, the same numbers are in the tiles and tables of each view, and in full in the Summary and Daily table files under Export.
- In Usage Insights for Codex, the column charts, line charts, the usage limits chart and the weekday by hour heatmap give each exact figure when you point at it; with a keyboard or a screen reader, the same numbers are in the tiles and tables of each view, and in full in the Summary and Daily table files under Export.
- In Report Design Studio, the live report preview is a sample report: a screen reader reads its sample titles and figures, not how it looks. Each colour is in the colour strip above it as a hex code, and the Accessibility panel gives each one's contrast as a number and a grade.
Tell me about a problem
If something on the site or in a tool is hard or impossible to use with the way you work, please tell me. Say which page or tool, what you were trying to do, and what you use (a screen reader, keyboard only, zoom). Write to me at hello@benibix.com, or report it on GitHub with the button below if you have an account there. I treat accessibility problems as bugs.
